STEP BY STEP

Run the mechanic in sequence

  1. 01

    Identify the cutter's target

    Number / icon

On PC, read the teammate number from 1 through 4. On Controller, read the face-button icon assigned to the receiver.

  2. 02

    Wait for a real cut

Use a teammate moving toward open space at the basket. A stationary receiver or occupied lane gives the pass no useful route.

  3. 03

    Send the targeted lob

    PC: T + number · Controller: LB/L1 + RB/R1 + icon

Press T plus the number on PC. On Controller, hold both bumpers and select the teammate icon. Enter the pass before the cutter reaches the rim.

  4. 04

Let the receiver complete the route

The receiver continues toward the projected catch point and times the available finish. Avoid changing the route after the pass is already in flight.

TROUBLESHOOTING

When the attempt fails

Change one part of the setup at a time so you can see what fixes the attempt.

The pass goes to the wrong teammate

Recheck the number or face-button icon assigned to the cutter. Do not substitute the player's court position for the displayed target.

The pass arrives behind the cutter

Trigger the lob earlier and simplify the route so the receiver is still moving into space when the pass is sent.

The receiver cannot reach the ball

Reduce the distance, clear the lane and keep the receiver path consistent before changing the pass timing.

F plus a number no longer throws the team lob

Use the official PC input T plus the teammate number. F by itself is the PC self-lob input.

The Controller input creates another action

Hold both LB / L1 and RB / R1 before selecting the teammate icon. LB / L1 plus a click of RS / R3 is reserved for the self lob.

QUICK ANSWERS

Guide FAQ

What buttons throw an alley-oop on PC?

Press T plus the intended teammate's number, from 1 through 4, while the receiver cuts into an open lane.

How do you throw an alley-oop on Xbox or PlayStation?

Hold LB and RB on Xbox or L1 and R1 on PlayStation, then press the face-button icon assigned to the intended teammate.

Is a team alley-oop the same as a self lob?

No. A PC self lob uses F, while a PC team lob uses T plus a teammate number. On Controller, a self lob uses LB / L1 plus RS / R3, while a team lob uses both bumpers plus a teammate icon.

Why does the teammate target matter?

The number or face-button icon identifies the receiver, allowing the passer to target one cutter instead of sending a generic lob.
